Thrift Store

The Abba House Thrift Store provides vocational opportunities for our program participants and supplements the local recovery location's operating budget.

  • There are regular and ongoing sale days to bring our customers even greater value for their money.

  • Wednesdays are always “Senior Day” at Abba House Thrift Store, allowing those who are 55 and older to receive 15% off of their total purchases (excluding furniture and items from the greenhouse).

  • Each month, Abba House Thrift Store also discounts different colored clothing “tags” 50% off the regular price.

  • Additional sales happen throughout the month and are posted near the entrance.

How You Can Help:

  • We are grateful to accept the donation of gently used items.

  • We are unable to accept items that are stinky, stained, or torn.

  • We also require that items are donated with all of their working parts and/or hardware.

  • Appliances and electronics need to be in good working condition

Feel free to drop your extra items off during store hours and don’t forget to pick up a donation receipt so that your gift is tax deductible.

We will pick up furniture or large appliances that will not fit in your car, if you call to schedule an appointment.

Developing Leadership Skills through Retail Management

At Abba House, the primary goal of every project and industry is the ultimate benefit to the ladies in the program.

Although the sales from the Thrift Stores allow us to keep tuition at an extremely low rate, the purpose of the Thrift Store far exceeds a way to generate income.

While in the program at Abba House, the ladies will hold various positions of leadership and obtain countless real world job skills.

The Thrift Store is structured so the ladies are accountable for different departments and the ladies within those departments.

The ladies learn the value of a hard day’s work and how to submit to authority in a job setting.

When you visit our stores, you’ll see that the ladies are also learning how to take pride in their work and reap the rewards of a job well done.

The ladies are responsible for everything in the stores, from the merchandise on the floor to the way it’s displayed, to the atmosphere the customers experience when they shop with us.
